From Our Classroom to the Community: fire safety

October 20th, 2025

Last week in our classroom: Fire Truck/start of halloween

Sensory table: halloween jack-o-lanterns

  • filler (orange rice)

  • dollar store mini pumpkins and clear bottles with pumpkin faces drawn on with a Sharpie

  • various scoopers/funnels

Activities:

  • Simple Fire Truck Coloring Page: To make things light and fun on our firetruck visit day, the children colored their own firetruck pages — making predictions about what color they thought the real firetruck would be!

  • Start of Halloween Activities: We kicked off our Halloween-themed fun with the letter S for Spiders! The kiddos painted beautiful watercolor spider webs and added dot stickers showing a variety of emotion faces — a great way to combine art, creativity, and social-emotional learning.

To this week from our community: Fire truck visit

Thank you to the Texas Township Fire Deparment for coming to Playschool to help educate young children on the importance of fire safety awareness and what to do in an emergency. We are so thankful for all that you do for our community!

It was so heartwarming to hear the kids point out smoke detectors, egress windows, and pretend to call 911 or run to the “fire.” It goes to show how much these real-life experiences impact their learning and understanding of safety. ❤️

To this week in our community: upcoming events

Christmas co-Op

Small Business Saturday → this is the place to be!
We can’t wait to see you there!

Playschool will be hosting a Kiddie Corner so your little ones can feel the joy of community through a local, family-owned business too.

The best part? The Co-Op is completely FREE and open to the public. No tickets needed—just come hang out, shop small, and join the fun!
